Lucifer: How he Fell

Many do not know the astonishing facts about the “adversary” or “accuser,”  also known as Lucifer, Satan or the Devil.

Yehshua introduces the scenario in Luke 10:

1 And after these things the Lord appointed seventy others, And He sent them two and two before His face into every city and place where He was about to come. 2 Then He said to them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest that He may send forth laborers into His harvest. 3 Go! Behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.

I am using the MKJV (Modern King James Version) Scriptures throughout, except where noted.

Returning to Yehshua, they gave this report:

Luke 10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us through Your name.

But He reminded them in the next verse as quoted from both the MKJV and the KJV:

18 And He said to them, I saw Satan fall from Heaven like lightning. (MKJV)

18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. (KJV)

These words should make your brain tingle. From those words it’s clear Yehshua witnessed the event as He clearly says, “I saw” or “I beheld. Let’s look at this word in the Greek:

to be a spectator of, that is, discern, (literally, figuratively [experience] or intensively [acknowledge]): – behold, consider, look on, perceive, see.

It clearly tells that He was present as Satan was expelled.

Why was Satan expelled?

Revelations 12:7-9 And there was war in Heaven. Michael and his angels warring against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels warred, 8 but did not prevail. Nor was place found for them in Heaven any more. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, the old serpent called Devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole world. He was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

John 8:44 You are of the Devil as father, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.

There can be no place at Heaven’s throne for rebellion and we are told Satan was a murderer and liar. The angels were created to serve Him and Satan was the chief angel who rebelled and wanted the throne for himself as Isaiah, the prophet told us:

Isaiah 14:13 For you have said in your heart, I will go up to the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north.

This has been Satan’s desire for an untold amount of time. This occurred before Adam and Eve were created. His desire has not changed nor has his anger. If he can’t have the throne of God, then no one can. His tactics changed to ensuring as few people as possible become worthy of the promise of eternal life.

Now, let’s go back again to Luke 10:18.

18 And He said to them, I saw Satan fall from Heaven like lightning. (MKJV)

How can Yehshua (Jesus) say He saw Satan fall from Heaven if Yehshua is only around thirty some years of age?

John 1:1-3,14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. 14 And the Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us. And we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and of truth.

John tells us “The Word”, which is a reference to “The Alpha and Omega” as seen in Revelations, was with God and is God. He was first seen in Genesis 1:1. We have other teachings on our Blog that help you reconcile Yehshua with His Father.

To the Pharisees Yehshua said,

John 8:54-58 Jesus answered, If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say that He is your God. 55 Yet you have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I should say I do not know Him, I would be a liar like you. But I know Him and I keep His Word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and He saw and was glad. 57 Then the Jews said to Him, You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham? 58 Jesus said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Before Abraham came into being, I AM!

Who is ” I AM”? It is YHWH!

Let’s read about the dethroning of the mighty angel as recorded in Isaiah 14.

Isaiah 14:12 How you are fallen from the heavens, O shining star, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! 13 For you have said in your heart, I will go up to the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north. 14 I will go up above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High. 15 Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the Pit.

He wasn’t expelled alone. Revelations 12:7-9 tells us this:

7 And there was war in Heaven. Michael and his angels warring against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels warred, 8 but did not prevail. Nor was place found for them in Heaven any more. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, the old serpent called Devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole world. He was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

The above scripture gives weight to what Apostle Peter and Jude wrote.

2 Peter 2:4 For if God did not spare sinning angels, but thrust them down into Tartarus, and delivered them into chains of darkness, being reserved to judgment.

Jude 1:6,” And those angels not having kept their first place* having deserted their dwelling-place, He has kept in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of a great Day;

Let’s look at the word “place” as in the “first place” mentioned above.

From G756; (properly abstract) a commencement, or (concrete) chief (in various applications of order, time, place or rank): – beginning, corner, (at the, the) first (estate), magistrate, power, principality, principle, rule.

*their first estate refers to their jurisdiction, their own principalities.
The TS2009 – The Scriptures indeed more properly translates this word to principality.

Would you scoff if I told you that it was Messiah Himself who revealed this mystery?

Let’s read from Revelations.

Revelations 1:20 the mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand and the seven golden lampstands. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.

Isaiah calls Lucifer the ‘son of the morning’.

Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! (KJV)

Isaiah 14:12 How you are fallen from the heavens, O shining star, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! (MJV)

The TS2009 – The Scriptures (by the Institute for Scripture Research (ISR) uses this wording:

Isaiah 14:12 “How you have fallen from the heavens, O Hělěl,c son of the morning! You have been cut down to the ground, you who laid low the nations! Footnote: c The Shining One. (TS2009)

The Hebrew word is Hělěl as the TS2009 uses. It is translated as Lucifer by the KJV and Shining Star by the MKJV.

From H1984 (in the sense of brightness); the morning star: – lucifer.

So the word “Lucifer” comes from a Hebrew word meaning brightness, as a star. It indicates the glory or light that YHWH placed upon His chief angel. It does NOT mean that is his name. It is simply a word for brightness AS a star is bright in it’s shining.

Revelations 22:16 I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify these things to you over the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the bright and Morning Star.

Is Satan and Jesus one and the same? Of course not. But they have are referred to as shining in brightness…hence the Hebrew word הֵילֵל ( Hělěl ) and the Greek word for bright:

From the same as G2985; radiant; by analogy limpid; figuratively magnificent or sumptuous (in appearance): – bright, clear, gay, goodly, gorgeous, white.

Both verses in Isaiah (regarding Satan) and in Revelations (regarding Yehshua) refer to them shining in brightness AS a star shines in brightness.

2 Peter 1:19 We also have a more sure Word of prophecy, to which you do well to take heed, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the Daystar arises in your hearts,

This is why Isaiah tells us, because of Satan’s foolishness, he attempted to overthrow Yehovah’s Government, but miserably failed, was subsequently expelled from Elohim’s Glory, i.e. the Holy Sanctuary and a future yet awaits him at the end of this age.

Isaiah 14:13-15 For you have said in your heart, I will go up to the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north. 14 I will go up above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High. 15 Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the Pit.

Revelations 12:3-4 3 And another sign was seen in the heavens. And behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads!
4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and cast them onto the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman being about to bear, so that when she bears he might devour her child.

Someone once asked me, “Do you mean Lucifer was a star? Come clean.”

I had to help him by going back again to the book of Isaiah chapter 14:12 and give him the meaning of the words ‘son of the morning’ translated as Lucifer by the KJV. Lucifer was the chief among the created Angels and he shown in his brightness.

Reading also in Jude, we find false teachers referred to as wandering stars-> messagers, Greek:planet’s (luminaries).

Jude 1:10 But what things they do not know, they speak evil of. And what things they understand naturally, like the animals without reason, they are corrupted by these. 11 Woe to them! For they went the way of Cain, and gave themselves up to the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah. 12 These are sunken rocks in your love feasts, feasting together with you; feeding themselves without fear; waterless clouds being carried about by winds; fruitless autumn trees, having died twice, having been plucked up by the roots; 13 wild waves of the sea foaming up their shames; wandering stars for whom blackness of darkness has been kept forever.

What then might have occurred in the battle of the luminaries?

Ezekiel likened him to the king of Tyre.

Ezekiel 28:11-19 11 And the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying, 12 Son of man, lift up a lament over the king of Tyre, and say to him, So says the Lord Jehovah: You seal the measure, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13 You have been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, the ruby, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the turquoise, and the emerald, and gold. The workmanship of your tambourines and of your flutes was prepared in you in the day that you were created.

14 You were the anointed cherub that covers, and I had put you in the holy height of God where you were; you have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15 You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, until iniquity was found in you.

16 By the multitude of your goods they have filled your midst with violence, and you have sinned. So I cast you profaned from the height of God, and I destroy you, O covering cherub, from among the stones of fire. 17 Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you have spoiled your wisdom because of your brightness. I will cast you to the ground; I will put you before kings, that they may behold you.

18 By the host of your iniquities, by the iniquity of your trade, you have profaned your holy places; so I brought a fire from your midst; it shall devour you, and I will give you for ashes on the earth, before the eyes of all who see you. 19 All who know you among the peoples shall be astonished at you; you shall be terrors, and you will not be forever.

At creation, everything was designed perfect with Lucifer as a perfect Angel and the chief angel.

Then he said,

Isaiah 14:13 “…I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I
will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north”.

Why north?

Psalms 48:1-2 Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of His holiness. 2 Beautiful on high, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

Mount Zion is the mountain of Holiness, the place of Yehovah placed His Temple. Satan seeks to sit in this temple.

Revelation 12:9,”And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him”. (KJV)

To Lucifer, his angels, and his human sympathizers, Yehovah reminds us:

Isaiah 30:8-15 8 Now go, write it before them in a tablet, and note it in a book, so that it may be for the time to come forever and ever, 9 that this is a rebellious people, lying sons. They are sons who will not hear the Law of Jehovah; 10 who say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Do not prophesy to us right things, speak to us smooth things, prophesy falsehood; 11 go out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.
12 Therefore so says the Holy One of Israel, Because you have despised this Word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and rest on them; 13 therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant. 14 And He shall break it as the breaking of the potters’ vessel that is broken in pieces. He shall have no pity, so that there shall not be found in the breaking of it a shard to take fire from the hearth, or to take water out of the pit.
15 For so says the Lord Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel, In returning and rest you shall be saved; and in quietness and hope shall be your strength. And you were not willing.

This is a very in depth study. It was until I started living Torah that pieces of scriptural puzzle stared coming together. By following the traditions of men, it will be impossible to attain eternity. You need to be delve into the Hebrew Roots of our faith to have your spiritual eyes opened. There are also many errors and mistranslations in the KJV, that lead one astray. We need to dig into the Greek and Hebrew words before they were translated by the Roman church. Who persecuted Yeshua, Paul, and the disciples? Yes, the Romans and it’s church.

And please don’t be among those who say:

Isaiah 29:11-12 11 And the vision of all has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which they give to one who knows books saying, Please read this; and he says, I cannot, for it is sealed. 12 And the book is delivered to him who does not know books, saying, Please read this; and he says, I do not know books.

Ezekiel 33:30-33 30 Hear this,”Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD. 31 And they come unto thee as the people
cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. 32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not. 33 And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them”.

To summarize:

The Scriptures only mention the names of four angels from the countless millions that have been created. They are, Gabrielle, whose name means, “God is Mighty”, Michael, whose name means, “Like God”, Raphael, whose name means, “God Heals”, and Lucifer, whose name means, “Light Bearer”. These angels continue to perform their duties in the heavenly realm.

It was Lucifer (ACTUAL word is brightness) who rebelled against Yehovah and desired the throne of Elohim (God) for himself. He was subsequently cast out of the realm of heaven that included Yehovah’s throne along with one third of the angels who sided with Lucifer. He is restrained by the Archangel Michael until the final war of tribulation takes place at the end of this age.

His name is not Lucifer. He is referred to as ‘the destroyer’, ‘the accuser’, and the Serpent. What is his name? In Hebrew it is “haSatan”, which translates to “The Destroyer”.

In the Garden of Eden:

Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which Jehovah God had made. And he said to the woman, Is it so that God has said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

In Egyptian captivity just prior to the Exodus:

Exodus 12:23 … Jehovah will pass over the door, and will not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you.

King David during is time of testing and persecution from King Saul’s army:

Psalms 17:4 Concerning the works of men, by the Words of Your lips, I am kept from the paths of the destroyer.

The End of the Age:

Revelations 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, the old serpent called Devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole world. He was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 And I heard a great voice saying in Heaven, Now has come the salvation and power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ. For the accuser of our brothers is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night.

Judgment day is coming. Please consider your ways. Stop your stubbornness.

Isaiah 30:20-21 20 And Jehovah gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction; yet your teachers shall not be removed into a corner any more, but your eyes shall see your teachers. 21 And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way, walk in it, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.
